In 2020, I.Kupce tells the story of her family member's father-in-law's experience in the Grieze Soviet filtration camp in 1945, after the surrender of the German army in Kurzeme.

My husband, who graduated as an air helper in 1945, was in a prison camp located in a fenced field next to the church in Meijas. The Red Army interrogated the house. Residents were expelled from the field, could return only around June 20. There now lives a lady who was happy to meet someone who was in the camp and survived. Some of the guys who tried to escape were shot by the Red Army. She was 16 at the time, and my husband was 18 in the camp. ”
