Kolkasrags border guard

At the end of the eighties, together with like-minded naturalists, we surveyed the coast of Kurzeme, incl. also the territory of the current Slītere National Park. Both on the bay side (starting from Mērsrags) and on the high seas, border guard towers were erected at regular intervals, with at least one military officer regularly watching the shore. As our route was planned from Melnsila to Sīkrags, we had to contact the local border guard post in advance, where we should name the planned route and the purpose of the march. Despite this official application, some border guards climbed to the ground from the towers and carried out checks - Кто такие? How are you? Какова цель прибытия? Предъявите пропуск! (Who are you? Where are you going? What is the purpose of the arrival? Show the pass!).
